Building on the Village
Oshun Family Center has secured a permanent home for Philadelphia’s Maternal Wellness Center at 3213 Frankford Avenue. Now, we are transforming this 7,464-square-foot building into a space where families can access culturally responsive mental health care, maternal health support, community wellness, and connection under one roof.
We’ve made significant progress, and now we’re inviting our community to help us finish what we started. Together, we can build a permanent home for healing, support, and healthier families for generations to come.

We envision a future where every family has equitable access to culturally responsive reproductive and mental health care. By centering the experiences of minority families and increasing access to providers who understand the communities they serve, we are building a more equitable system of care where families can heal, thrive, and experience healthier futures.
The mission
Oshun Family Center advances the health and well-being of under-resourced families through culturally responsive mental health care, maternal health support, and community-based healing. We create spaces where individuals and families feel seen, supported, and empowered to heal, break generational cycles, and have greater agency over their minds, bodies, and reproductive journeys.
The impact
Founded in 2018, Oshun Family Center has grown from a community-rooted vision into a trusted maternal and mental health resource for families across Philadelphia.
Through psychotherapy, maternal health support, community wellness, education, and the Maternal Wellness Village, OFC is expanding access to culturally responsive care while building a stronger ecosystem of support for families.
In 2026 alone, the Maternal Wellness Village reached more than 850 families through 90 community events and provided 172 mental health assessments, demonstrating both the need for this work and the power of bringing care directly into community.

$20,000 – Create Healing Space
Help transform the interior of the Maternal Wellness Center into a welcoming, trauma-informed environment designed for healing, connection, and care.
$10,000 – Cultivate Wellness
Support the creation of restorative indoor and outdoor spaces that promote wellness, reflection, and community connection.
$5,000 – Support Maternal Care
Equip lactation and doula spaces with the supplies and resources families and providers need to receive and deliver high-quality maternal health support.
$1,000 – Expand Access to Care
Support essential technology and infrastructure that help OFC deliver accessible in-person and virtual care, training, and family support.
THE PATH TO OPTIMAL MATERNAL HEALTH & WELLNESS
Our Permanent Home in Philadelphia
On April 1, 2025, Oshun Family Center took a transformational step forward: we purchased 3213 Frankford Avenue in Philadelphia, establishing a permanent home for our work and the families and communities we serve.
The 7,464-square-foot property will be transformed into a fully accessible Maternal Wellness Center, a permanent home for culturally responsive mental health care, maternal health services, community wellness, education, and workforce development.
Owning our space means investing directly in families and building infrastructure that will remain in the community for generations. With significant public and private investment already committed, we are building on strong momentum and raising the remaining capital needed to complete construction and open our doors.
Building the Maternal Wellness Village
Our permanent home will serve as the hub of the Maternal Wellness Village, bringing families, birth workers, clinicians, and community partners together within a healing-centered ecosystem of care.
The Center will expand access to psychotherapy, doula and lactation support, childbirth education, community wellness, and training while creating space for Black birth workers and maternal health professionals to connect, collaborate, and grow.
This isn’t simply a building. It’s permanent infrastructure for healthier families and a more equitable maternal health system in Philadelphia.
The design and fit-out of the Maternal Wellness Center are supported by the Community Design Collaborative and FIFTEEN Architecture + Design.

We are turning a bold vision into a permanent home. Phase One of the Maternal Wellness Center represents a $2.81 million investment in the future of maternal and family health in Philadelphia. Through public investment, philanthropic support, and community giving, Oshun Family Center has already secured $1.7 million toward construction. Now, we are closing the final gap and preparing to bring the Center to life.

Building the Village, Together
As we stand in this moment, I am filled with deep gratitude for every person who has walked alongside Oshun Family Center. What we have built together is not accidental. It is the result of shared vision, trust, and an unwavering commitment to Black maternal health.
We are entering one of the most significant chapters in our history. We are no longer simply imagining what is possible, we are actively building it. We have secured a permanent home, mobilized public and private investment, and are moving forward with the development of Philadelphia’s Black- and woman-led Maternal Wellness Center.
This is bigger than a building. It is about creating permanent infrastructure for culturally responsive care, strengthening families, and building something that will serve our community for generations to come.
Every donor, volunteer, staff member, partner, advocate, and supporter has helped carry this vision forward. Your investment of time, resources, expertise, advocacy, and trust has left a lasting imprint on Oshun Family Center and the families we serve.
