We at Oshun Family Center value and amplify the voices and experiences of members of the Black community. From personal, professional and research experience, there is empirical evidence that shows a positive impact on a provider – client relationship in regards to people who have shared lived experiences. Black therapists who possess a level of skill, training and dedication are not a match for the number of clinicians in the dominant culture which reduces accessibility. We find it important to honor those stories and experiences by matching people accordingly.
